How do I book an appointment?

I usually ask most clients to email me. My email is britaini.albin@gmail.com or you can send one  through the contact tab above. I will send you a email asking you about the design, location, size, references, your availability and anything else you might want to tell me. This is to try to avoid email chains=multiple emails. I will ask you to make a $60 deposit that goes towards the tattoo. This is not a drawing fee. I will send you a Venmo, Zelle or quick Chase pay option so that you don’t have to come in this will usually come after I know the for sure appointment date. All deposits are nonrefundable. I’ve had trouble in the past with clients making an appointment and then changing their appointment dates multiple times or picking a fight to get their deposit back or completely “ghosting” me the day of than asking for their deposits back. I do tell clients to be 100% sure of the appointment date and time. If you do need to reschedule for any reasons because you are sick or any work related stuff I totally understand. Especially right now I would rather people tell they are sick and they need to stay home instead of coming in. This happens often so no worries~I want everyone to be in good health when they come in.

 

If you are a few minutes late to your appointment please let me know. Know there is no way I would be upset or mad about you being late unless you didn't tell me-things happen-please drive or get here safe

How do I pay for my appointment?

I accept cash, venmo, chase quick pay or zelle which most are things you can make through your bank app.

Can I bring my friend or other people with me?

I have the shop precautions listed below. Right now at this moment we unfortunately cannot have any additional guests coming into the shop. This is to limit the amount of people that are coming in and out of the tattoo shop daily. Plus with the state mandate “rules” there’s no way your friend could sit 6 feet away from you and not be next to one of my coworkers or their clients. We have a waiting area but that is for people getting tattooed. If you want you could always bring your phone with you and with headphones FaceTime them. I know this might sound like a “dumb rule” to have but this is just to keep everybody safe

 

Why don’t I see my tattoo on your website or Instagram?

There’s are number of reasons why you might not see your tattoo up on my Instagram or website. I don’t post everything. Some times with Instagram algorithms it’s down to the time of the day, the tattoo is not done yet (session work), I just don’t feel like sharing it with everybody or I just didn’t get the right photo that I wanted for it. Usually it’s the latter~I’m not a photographer and sometimes take blurry pictures after working on big session tattoos. I do quite a lot of tattoos during my week so some of them you’ll see my story or some of them you just won’t see you at all. So don’t take this as me not liking your tattoo. It’s social media. I wouldn’t take it that personal. Feel free to post your tattoo or tag me in your photos :) 

 

How much does a tattoo cost?

With every client I will price the tattoo the day of the appointment. It’s super hard to guesstimate things via email without actually seeing it/drawing it. For most of my clients I will draw a couple of different designs that you will have the option of choosing from. With those designs it could come down to the size, location or detail that you want that tattoo to be done in. So usually when it comes to pricing I will do all those in person~I try not to do pricing through email. You’d be surprised on how small or how big you would want something once you see it in person.

 

What’s your availability?

Right now since were in the middle of a pandemic it’s really hard to tell people my availability. Sometimes I will have openings the week of but most definitely I am booked up about a month or two in advance. Right now in Chicago we’re kind of just taking it step-by-step when it comes to booking clients. The last thing I would want is to have to do is reschedule months and months of clients if we do go back into a stay at home. We had a stay at home recently a lot of people got frustrated with the different dates that they were telling us. We knew just as much as you back in spring. So this is mostly out of not wanting to bum anyone out. Hopefully by next year we can go back to “normal". I book my own appointments so I usually get a chance to reply back to emails Sunday-Tuesday 

 

What are your shop precautions?

I know personally I am getting tested every month to ensure that I have a negative Covid test. I’ve been doing this ever since we got released from our stay at home. We are so close to people for multiple hours that I would feel bad if I was to give it to someone else if I did get Covid. Here’s a list of the shops precautions. 

 

I have limited the amount of tattoos I normally do so it’s about 1-2 clients a day. I stopped in person consultation so I can limit the amount of clients I see in a day too. These precautions are to follow the CDC regulations, state suggested mandate or my own person precautions I’ve decided to do. We have a wireless thermometer at the shop that I will use to write on your release form and I take my temperature and monitor it everyday :) if you are traveling before your tattoo date please please look up the state travel mandate for how long you should quarantine after. With that being said I hope that most clients would reschedule if they are sick or come in contact with anybody that has Covid. We can always reschedule 

 

Can I bring headphones?

Absolutely. During the holiday season we like to play Christmas music or they’ll be a regular radio station on. I want everybody to be comfortable when they come in so feel free to bring your phone with your headphones so you can watch a movie or listen to whatever music you wanna listen to. It does not bother me at all :) Sometimes clients bring a book as well which might be tricky to hold up depending on where your getting tattooed

 

What is the after care or what should I expect after getting tattooed? 

When you leave you’ll have a piece of paper with all the aftercare instructions on it. As well as let you know verbally what to expect. It really depends on what I’ve put on your tattoo before you left. Sometimes I will use just a breathable bandage, taped padded bandage or a clear film bandage so it just depends on what I dress it with before you leave. Usually clients asked me this before they even get tattooed. I would just wait until the day of and I wouldn’t worry about it until we go over everything in person 

 

How quick do you reply back to emails?

I try to get back to everybody on my days off. Sunday~Tuesday are the best days that I set aside for new clients or any questions you might have. I try not to focus too much on my emails during my work week because I think it takes away from working on my clients that day. Hence no DMs on Instagram :) The more time I spend on somebody else should be an indication of how much time I’m going to spend on you. All and all 24-72 hours depending on the email or Sunday~Tuesday for new clients 

 

What should I wear the day of the tattoo appointment?

Just ask in an email I have some pretty clever ways (after working at a biker shop for forever) on how to cover up or not feel exposed. This is just to make sure you feel comfortable during the tattoo. I will say that sometimes super chunky shirts or sweaters often get in the way if you’re getting something on your side, your shoulder or upper arms. The idea of this question is just to make people aware that maybe your clothes might be in the way when I put a stencil on or when I’m tattooing you

 

Common questions: Turning a hoodie/loose dress shirt/flannel around for a back or spine tattoo or simply wearing a hoodie for a sternum tattoo has helped before. 

A leg or thigh~ shorts or loose pants (skinny jeans are not your friend for this tattoo) 

Shoulders~same super loose shirts, sweaters or flannel if you want to be partial covered or you can wear a racer back or spaghetti strap tank top to pull down and it’s out of the way * High high thigh/hip~dress or skirt *

 

We have a partition available for privacy too. If you have any questions feel free to reach out. I personally like to feel comfortable when I get my tattoo so wear whatever makes you feel good or comfortable there’s no rules on this except comfort 

 

What is your tattoo process?

When it comes to making designs and what not I like to have options for you to choose from. When you start to book an appointment I’ll ask if you questions just to figure out exactly what you want me to do. Simplicity is your friend and these are normal questions I ask everyone 

 

I don’t do any previews of designs. All of the designs are shown the day of the appointment. This is to stop email chains and to limit the amount of time on my computer answering emails. On the day of the appointment we can definitely change a few things, placement and sizing. You’d be surprised at how many clients end up going smaller or way bigger than what they initially wanted to go with the design. I explain this is pricing too. I usually like to have a lot of control when it comes to the design overall. I understand having someone draw you up a design/concept or being very particular about how you would like it to be done but overall if you give me the freedom to do whatever I do that would be preferred. I’ll show you the outline of a design but all the detail will be done when I’ll actually tattoo you

 

All of the tattoos on my Instagram and my website everyone had about two or three different designs that I showed them the day of and the rest they left up to me. There are a few examples of this on my Instagram on the main page in the buttons. Also sending examples of other tattooers work isn’t necessarily a bad thing. But know that I will have to change that design, idea and concept 100% in order to make an original design for you. I do not copy or mimic anybody else’s work. With so many references and resources online it’s kind of hard to find things so I totally understand. I personally do a lot of different styles so I usually like asking for examples so I can make a custom design for you

 

What style of tattoo do you do or don’t do?

I do all kinds of styles of tattooing. Nowadays I usually like focusing on black work, stippling/dot work, line work, floral, nature and black and gray tattooing. Sometimes I will take on a color tattoo or add hints of color into the tattoos. But this just depends on exactly how you would like to tattoo to to be done. I’ve kind of steered away from doing full color and portrait tattooing. If you would like to get a full color, portrait, if you need to see the design before hand, if you want to draw that design yourself or have someone else do it then I might not be the tattooer for you. That’s not saying there isn’t someone else that can help you with this. There are plenty of shops that will do this and if you would like some rad shops to check out just let me know I have friends all over the city :)

 

 

Overall getting tattooed should be a lot of fun. The day of the appointment if you wanna bring any snacks or drinks feel free to do so. Longer sessions we will take breaks for. We have a waiting area and a very quiet shop so you can definitely take breaks if need be. Tattooing is a beautiful thing so don’t worry to much. Shop Precautions

Due to Covid-19, we have put new measures in place to protect our artist + clients. These rules will be put in place immediately + we will update if there are any changes. 

Only the person getting tattooed is allowed in the shop. Clients are being asked not to bring any friends or family with them to their appointment. 

Anyone who enters Tattoo Avenue must wear a mask. All clients must wear a mask to their appointment. If you do not have one, we can provide one. 

If you are sick stay home! if you are not feeling well or think you have been exposed to someone who is sick, please stay home! If you have previously tested positive for Covid-19, we will need a doctor's note stating it is okay to safely tattoo you.

 

We have the right to refuse service. If we feel like we are in possible danger of being exposed to someone who acts or appears sick, we have the right to refuse service to that person. 

We are not accepting walk-ins at this time. To reduce the amount of people in the shop, we will temporarily be working by appointment only. 

Sanitation has always been our priority+ we will continue to make sure our shop is thoroughly disinfected so our clients + artist can feel safe+ remain happy and healthy.
